“This faith-based tournament has been running for five years. It consists of representatives from various denominations across Randfontein and Mohlakeng. We would have liked to be able to run it better than we do on our tight budget, and we wish that government, especially our local municipality, would come on board, but they have been ducking and diving.

“We also need help from the private sector. We religious leaders hold this event to help enhance youth development on a broad spectrum – not only spiritually but physically too, and a game of soccer helps to reach out to the youth and keep them away from drugs, alcohol abuse and crime in general ” said Pastor John Mkhonza, the organiser.

He added that despite these organisational setbacks they hope that the games will be even better next time.
