Former Janna in SA team at World Cup

"I've been training for this my whole life."

Former Hoërskool Jan Viljoen learner Jerry Motsau will not only be representing South Africa at the upcoming Athletics World Cup. He will do so at the African Championships as well.

Jerry said he has been training for these events since primary school. He matriculated at Hoërskool Jan Viljoen and is currently studying sports science at the Northwest University in Potchefstroom.

“My former high school has always been supportive of my athletics career and they are excited about my achievements,” Jerry said.

He will be part of the South African team during these events and will rub shoulders with stars like Caster Semenya.

“Caster and I will be representing SA in the male and female long-distance items respectively. It’s such an honour to run on the same track she does when we run our respective 1 500m distances,” he said.

The Athletics World Cup is taking place in London from 13 to 14 July. Jerry will be travelling to Nigeria on 28 July to take part in the African Championships in August.

“I’m so excited to be joining the South African team and to represent my country in two of the biggest athletics events of the year,” Jerry said.
