Rugby team from Ram up for the challenge in Bloem

A rugby team from Ram will feature in the upcoming National RugbyRamme tournament to be held in Bloemfontein.

The Crusaders Rugby Club from Laerskool Randfontein will, for the very first time, be taking part in the upcoming National RugbyRamme tournament to be held in Bloemfontein.

The team will leave on Thursday morning, 12 July, to take part in the two-day tournament to be held at Grey College Primary on Friday, 13 and Saturday, 14 July. Teams from Johannesburg, Pretoria and as far afield as Cape Town are expected to compete, with R50 000 up for grabs.

Hansen Pretorius, one of the coaches, said they are ready for the challenge as they have had intense training during the winter school recess.

He said participating in the tournament is a big opportunity as it will help the team members to develop their skills.

“We are ready for the challenge and we will give the tournament nothing but our best,” Hansen said.

Hansen said further that their opponents will be facing a great challenge. He added that a lot of hard work had been put in to the development of the players since the team members were very young.

“This is their first year of 15-man rugby and we have been coaching them throughout. We have managed to develop their skills for the game quite well,” he said.
