Jetting off to the USA!

The ultimate goal is to expose performers to the excitement of the Performing Arts World.

The students of the Phoenix School of Performing Arts recently outdid themselves.

Three of its dancers were informed that they had qualified for the Talent America Showcase, which takes place in New York from 3 to 12 July. Chenique Bouwer (two gold medals), Elana de Wet (one gold medal) and Nicole Bouwer (three gold medals) have all been invited to participate in the Talent America Showcase.

The school’s students performed exceptionally well at the Talent Africa South African Nationals, with all the gold medalists qualifying to be part of the South African team that will travel to New York in July.

Four other dancers – Carmen Lubbe, Kaylee van Rooyen, Nicole Lubbe and Abbigail le Clus – were awarded silver medals at Talent Africa.

Talent Africa was established with the main aim of giving artists with the relevant talent the best opportunities to be exposed to all that the entertainment world can offer on both national and international levels. The ultimate goal is to expose performers to the excitement of the entire performing arts world.

Talent Africa is the only event in Africa that is sanctioned to select and escort a South African team to the Talent America Showcase.

These privileged, talented dancers will experience the magic of Broadway and all New York has to offer. They will meet international scouts and stand a chance of landing a contract with the industry’s best.

As part of the South African team, the dancers will have many experiences, among them Broadway shows and workshops, dance workshops, the New York Film Academy, vocal workshops, sightseeing and much more.

Their coaches and Margie Bouwer, owner of the Phoenix School of Performing Arts, are very proud of all of their achievements.
