What not to miss in sport this weekend!

Here's what's happening in the sporting world this weekend.

The Herald has compiled a list of some of the must-see sporting events that will be screened on television on Saturday, 7 April and Sunday, 8 April.

SATURDAY, 7 APRIL

Rugby:

• Round 8 of Super Rugby will continue from as early as 7.10am, with a clash between Japan’s Sunwolves and Australia’s Waratahs followed by an all Aussie-clash in Canberra between the Brumbies and Reds at 11.40am. The Lions and Stormers will do battle in Johannesburg at 5pm. Other rugby action not to miss is Round 19 of the Guiness PRO14 at 2.55pm between the Cheetahs and Cardiff Blues in Bloemfontein, followed by the Southern Kings against Munster at 7.30pm.

Also don’t forget to tune in at 2.50am for Round 7 of the World Rugby HSBC Sevens Series in Hong Kong. The Blitzboks will already be in action from 6.20am against Scotland and England at 10.20am.

Cricket:

• The Indian Premier League is back! The opening ceremony is at 2.45pm with the first match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings from 4.15pm.

Football:

• South African teams to go head to head in the ABSA Premiership are Kaizer Chiefs and Chippa United at 2.55pm followed by Maritzburg United and Cape Town City at 8.10pm.

Athletics:

• This only happens every few years! By Saturday, the Commonwealth Games in Australia is already in full swing as early as 00.55am with lawn bowls, followed by basketball, netball, men’s hockey, table tennis, weightlifting and swimming.

And, if you are looking for something different, catch the following …

• The US Masters (Day 2) from midnight

• Premier League (Matchday 33) from 1.2pm

• Supercars Championship from 8.45am

SUNDAY, 8 APRIL

Motorsport:

• Tune in at 5pm for the main race of the Bahrain Grand Prix

Rugby:

• The knockout rounds of the World Rugby HSBC Sevens Series in Hong Kong start as early as 3.20am.

Athletics:

• Day three of the Commonwealth Games will continue from 1.40am. Sports to look forward to include boxing, squash, shooting and again men’s hockey.

• Paris-Roubaix – 116th Edition – (Cycling) from 10.55am

• Golden Gloves Vacant WBC International Featherweight title fight between Sydney Maluleka and Lerato Dlamini from 2pm
