What not to miss in sport this weekend!

Here's what's happening in the sporting world this weekend.

The Herald has compiled a list of some of the must-see sporting events that will be screened on television on Saturday, 27 January, and Sunday, 28 January.

SATURDAY, 27 JANUARY

Rugby:

• The World Rugby HSBC Sevens Series returns in January 2018, with the third round in Sydney, Australia. The action will start at 5.30am with England and Papua New Guinea locking horns. Catch the Blitzbokke thereafter from 6am and again at 9am for the big match against England.

Cricket:

• Don’t miss the Baby Proteas (South Africa) in the ICC U/19 Cricket World Cup fifth place play-off. Play started at 11.15pm on Friday. Also catch the ongoing rivalry between the Proteas and India on the fourth day of the 3rd Test in Johannesburg from 9.30am. There is also some T20 women’s cricket action throughout the day.

Football:

• Local South African sides to go head-to-head in the ABSA Premiership are Platinum Stars vs Orlando Pirates (3pm), SuperSport United vs Bidvest Wits (5.30pm) and probably the biggest match of the weekend between Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns from 8pm. The quarter-finals of the African Nations Championship will take place 6.15pm.

Tennis:

• Don’t miss the final showdown in the Australian Open this weekend. First up is the Women’s Final at 9.30am followed by the Men’s Doubles Final at 1.30pm.

SUNDAY, 28 JANUARY

Rugby:

• This is for the early birds! The last day of the World Rugby HSBC Sevens Series in Sydney and knock-out rounds take place from 00.50am. The Cup Final takes place at about 11.30am.

Cricket:

• Get to Wanderers! The fifth and last day of the final test between the Proteas and India will commence at 9.30am. Also catch the fifth One Day International (ODI) between Australia and England from 5.10am as well as the first semi-final of the ICC U/19 Cricket World Cup from 11.15pm.

Tennis:

• The Australian Open will come to a close with the Mixed Doubles Final from 7am followed by the Men’s Final at 9.30am.

• The Great Ocean Road Race Elite Men’s Race from 4am.
