The Randfontein Rugby Club annual awards

Randfontein Rugby Club recently rewarded their best at a prize-giving ceremony in Greenhills.

Randfontein Rugby Club recently honoured and celebrated the players who gave it their all this season at the annual prize-giving ceremony held at the Gert Augustyn Hall in Greenhills.

Some of the top awards went to:

The Best Achieving Team award for the year went to the club’s first team. The Sportsmanship for the Year award went to the junior player Eben Vorster and senior player André Esterhuizen. The Most Deserving Member award went to rugby player Corné Hulme. The person who received the award for the most initiative was none other than Jannie van Loggerenberg.

The awards for best forward and back-line players went to:

First team:

• Boeta Swart – forwards

• Rudi Marx/ Theo Calitz – back-line

Second team:

• Tarquin Mulder – forwards

• Temba Makabula – back-line

Third team:

• Athi Antikosi – forwards

• Erens Oelsen – back-line

U/19:

• JG Knoetze – forwards

• Duandre Joubert – back-line

U/21:

• Eben Vorster – forwards

• Bennie Prinsloo – back-line

The club also had an award for the players that showed the best progress during the year. It went to junior player Leon van Ryn and senior player Manny Rodriques. The coaches were not left out and Jacques Conradie, Frans Vorster and Dawie Erenst were crowned the best coaches for the season.

The Sportsmen of the Year awards went to Pieter Smit, Heinning Buitendag and Koos van Zyl. The players also had the opportunity to vote for their Player of the Year, and chose Brandon Rieck to receive the award.

The night was a big success and the club is looking forward to the new year and its new adventures.
