New committee elected at R’fontein Rugby Club

"I would like to express my gratitude to those members who had the confidence in me to manage the Club again for the next term" – Dana van Vuuren.

Randfontein Rugby Club held their annual general meeting (AGM) on Thursday, 19 October where the new candidates for different divisions were announced.

It was the first time since 2002 that the Club’s committee was elected by players and current committee members.

“The process was handled by Hentie Prinsloo (one of the Club’s Protectors) and Ryno Bosman (Player Representative) under the watchful eye of Jannie van Loggerenberg (Deputy Chairman),” said Dana van Vuuren, club chairman.

Dana continued by saying that he and André van Rensburg were nominated as chairperson, and 12 other committee members were also nominated.. Between the committee members were 12 nominations.

The following committee members were elected:
• Chairman for the next three years: Dana van Vuuren
• Deputy Chairman: Jannie van Loggerenberg
• Committee members: Johan Cronje, Sylvester Engelbrecht, Frank Naudé and Corné Hulme
Co-elected members still have to be appointed.
• Head coach: Gert Lindeque
• Coaches; first team: Dawie Erns and George Smith
• Coaches; second team: Jacques Conradie and Frans Vorster
• Coach; third team: Donald Bekker
• Coaches; Junior u.19 and u.21: Erens Oelsen and Hendrik Engelbrecht.
• Club captain: Willie Marx

“I would like to express my gratitude to those members who had the confidence in me to manage the Club again for the next term, together with my old committee members and newly elected committee members.

I also would like to congratulate the newly elected committee. I know we are going to form a strong team and lead the club to greater heights in coming years,” said Dana.

The prize-giving ceremony took place on Friday evening 27 October.
