Local runner stands up to strong Kenyans

A local runner from Mohlakeng held SA's name high in the women's section of the OR Tambo Marathon in Bloemfontein.

After a bad outing at the Spar Women’s Race in Johannesburg, local girl Keneilwe Sesing (who runs for KMPG) put on a good performance at the second OR Tambo Marathon in Bloemfontein on Sunday, 15 October.

Keneilwe pulled out all the stops and managed a second place against the always-strong long-distance Kenyan runner, Joan Nancy Rotich who finished first, while Jenniffer Koech was third. The Kenyans dominated the men’s section but this means that Keneilwe was the first South African and second woman home.

Keneilwe after the race said, “I am happy to have made up for that Spar race.”

Motlatsi Sesing, her husband and coach added, “After this we are firmly looking forward to the Old Mutual Soweto Marathon 10km race.”
