Many from Mohlakeng club off to SA’s in Potch

Several athletes from a Mohlakeng-based club are on their way to Potchefstroom to take part in the SA Cross-country Champs.

Baobab Athletics Club, which is based in Mohlakeng, is over the moon with excitement as several of its athletes have been selected to be in the Central Gauteng Athletics Club team to participate in the SA Cross-country Championships to be held in Potchefstroom on Saturday, 9 September.

Ofentse Ntimane, club chairman and coach, said he is excited and proud of his charges being chosen, regardless of their challenges.

“Most of the athletes are from disadvantaged backgrounds, but, despite not being well-resourced, we do bring the results,” he said

The athletes on their way to Potchefstroom are:

Palesa Makgale (girls under U/8),

Thato Makgetha (girls U/9),

Thebe Mabote (boys U/10),

Lesego Mokotsi (boys U/11),

Bokang Mabote (boys U/12),

Vuyo Rayi (boys U/13), and

Andries Seboa (boys U/15).
