Raceway Prize Money Challenge done and dusted

Amazing prizes to the value of R10 000 were up for grabs and the winners named after this past weekend's Prize Money Challenge at Randfontein Oval Raceway.

The racing kings for all 2 100cc class cars have been announced following the Randfontein Oval Raceway’s Prize Money Challenge on Saturday, 12 August.

Racing started at 6pm with Deon Coetzee Snr and his wife, Mari having confirmed that the weather was perfect and attendance by residents as well as racers from surrounding areas was higher than expected.

This Prize Money Challenge offered amazing prizes to the value of R10 000 to the three best 2 100cc racers. Other classes that spectators enjoyed watching included the Ninjas, Stockrods, 1 660cc, the Supers, Flexis, Midgets, Banshees, 450 Quads and Sidecars.

The winner in the 2 100cc challenge was a very happy Anton van Rooyen, followed by Martin Nortje in second place and Robert Hurn in third.

Other winners include:

• Ninjas Category: Francois van der Merwe (first) and Helgard Westraad (second)

• Rookies Category: Willie Nysschen (first), Morne Walters (second) and Eddie Holland (third)

• Midgets Category: Roelof Wolfaardt (first), Jan de Bruyn (second), and Franco van der Walt (third)

• Super Go-Karts Category: Robbie Robbertse (first), Hennie Strydom (second), and Jeanine Esterhuizen (third)

• HotRods Category: Johan vd Merwe (first), Johan Els (second) and Morne Pretorius (third)

• Side Cars Category: Kallie Britz (first), Johannes Meintjies (second) with Konrad Britz and Leon den Krooden (joint third)

• 1 660cc category: Ganine Wotherspoon (first), LeeRoy Hoffman (second) and Hano Trichardt (third)

• Flexis category: Ben Morgenrood (first), Deon Coetzee (second) and Sydney Rowan (third)

The next race, the 1 660cc Challenge of Champs, will take place on Saturday, 9 September, and more prize money will be up for grabs.
