Four cyclists from the Randmark Run, Walk and Cycle Club got podium positions at this past weekend’s Hazeldean Valley Mountain Biking Trails event.
This breathtaking trail venue is ideally situated right on the doorstep of Pretoria East – a riding distance from Silver Lakes and its surrounds.
“Even though the race was very small, our riders did outstanding,” said Karin Bezuidenhout, Randmark’s media spokesperson.
The riders could choose between the 60km and the 30km trail. Five riders from Randmark participated in the 60km race and four managed to get a podium position. One woman rider endured the 30km trail.
Jana Jonker, Randmark’s top achiever had a magnificent time of 2 hours, 36 minutes and 32 seconds, which led her to finishing third overall in the women’s category and second in her Elite Ladies age group.
The other riders produced the following results:
• Mauritz Botes in 2:28:30 finished second in the Elite Men category and seventh overall
• Paul Kotze in 2:35:53 finished third in the Masters category
• Annamarie Jacobsz in 2:56:07 finished second in the Sub-Veteran category and as the 10th female overall
Other riders who participated in the event:
• Mike Reid finished in 2:56:05 in the 60km
• Trudie Reid finished in 1:46:06 in the 30km
Randmark congratulates the riders with their achievements and also encourages new riders to start participating in trails.
