Gauteng Cross-country action today!

Local athletes are set to shine on home turf for the Cross-country league event today.

The Westonaria Sports Complex will once again play host to the Central Gauteng Athletics Cross-country League 6 event on Saturday, 1 July.

The events kicks off at 11.20am with the boys and girls U/8 race first.

Some of the top local athletes expected to shine are Kabelo Melamu from KMPG and his coach Motlatsi Sesing, as well as Joseph Mabodla, a master runner from Mohlakeng Colossus Athletics Club.

In the women’s senior section, a renewed rivalry between Keneiloe Sesing who runs for KMPG and Cornelia Joubert from Boxer Athletics Club is likely. Last year Keneiloe had to play second fiddle to Cornelia.

“We are looking forward to the cross-country on home soil, as Rand West City and Westonaria have done well in previous league events,” said Ofentse Ntimane, coach and chairman of the Baobab Athletics Club.
