Snap Back steps up

Interesting enough, Chivalry means women empowerment.

On Friday,24 March, the Herald visited the Snap Back Studios hip-hop crews, Cream and Chivalry, and spoke to the dancers.

The two dance crews took first and third place respectively during the National Championships held in the Mother City, Cape Town, early in March. Crew Cream won bronze and Crew Chivalry took the gold medal.

Monique has been dancing at Snap Back Studios for one year, while Carla has been dancing for eight years. Larisha has been dancing for seven years. They all agree that the movie Step up is their most inspiring dance movie. Larisha said that she likes Hip Hop because ” You can let go, there is no rules.”

The Cream dance crew shows some attitude.

Crew Cream is the junior dance crew, and they are aged from 11 to 13 years old. The dancers are all from either Laerskool Randfontein or Laerskool Rapportryer.

Both crews will be competing in the World Qualifying Circuit event in October in order to qualify for the World Hip-hop (HHI) Championship to be held in Arizona in the USA next year.
