Surprise party for respected coach

Former Super Kids netball and volleyball players surprise their former beloved coach on his 52nd birthday.

In what could be regarded as a rare occasion in sporting circles, former Super Kids netball and volleyball players organised a surprise birthday party for their former coach Mushi Mogapi at the Mohlakeng tennis, volleyball and netball courts.

Khido Moruledi and friends (also former players) were behind the surprise birthday for their former coach.

Mushi is currently employed as sports officer at the Rand West City Local Municipality. He has been instrumental in bringing volleyball to the fore in a township where soccer has been the most popular sport in the community since back in the 80s and 90s – a time also beset by political upheavals in the community.

“We saw it fit to have this event to pay tribute to Bra Moss on his 52nd birthday. He made sure that sport is not for boys only, but that the girl child also has the right to participate.

He too encourages development in sports – not only for players but for officials and technical personnel,” Khido said.

Mushi was commended by former colleague and friend Jicks Kgoleng.

Mushi said, “I am more than moved by what the players have done for me today. The likes of Kontsho Setlhare and Fikile Mosakga, whom I coached and are now police officers who represent South Africa at many international police games in volleyball, are exactly why I started. I did this with passion more than anything else, but this I will always cherish.”
