Randmark cyclist impresses during the 947 Mountain Bike Challenge

'It was an extremely tough race, but it was fun'

Recently a member of the Randmark Cycling and Running Club landed a second place in the Elite Seniors division after competing in the 55km 947 Mountain Bike Challenge.

This cyclist is none other than Annamarie Jacobsz, who – believe it or not – has only been cycling for a year. On Sunday, 13 November she participated in her first ever 947 Mountain Bike Challenge, and showed everybody what she’s made of.

“It was an extremely tough race, but it was fun. I absolutely loved the spirit and atmosphere of it. It was a well organised race as well,” she said.

Other races she has participated in to date include the Karoo to Coast Mountain Bike Race, where she ended fifth in her division. She also participated in the 947 Cycle Challenge on Sunday 20 November.

Annamarie now aims to compete in the Karoo to Coast and 947 Mountain Bike Challenge next year, in hopes of beating her personal best.

“Competing in these races teaches one a lot about endurance and how to push through. It really challenges one to the utmost,” she concluded.
