Flex muscles for charity

Muscle monsters from different gyms entered the competition to prove their bodies symbolised the ultimate golden mean.

West Rand men with muscles recently proved that their lifestyle is about more than just pumping iron and impressing women.

During the Mr West Rand Bodybuilding and Miss Physique competition, these modern-day Hercules look-alikes showed off their incredible strength and muscles in the Krugersdorp Centenary Hall to raise funds for the Ikusasa Foundation – an initiative of The Bethany House Trust in conjunction with DGN Save An African Child.

The competition formed part of a cohesive social upliftment programme for children in need of protection and care.

The competition also served as talent identification. Muscle monsters from different gyms on the West Rand, including Soweto, Vaal, Carletonville, Westonaria and Johannesburg entered the competition to prove their bodies symbolised the ultimate golden mean (the perfect proportions of a human body).

Councillor Themba Mokoena, Member of the Mayoral Committee for Sport and Recreation in Mogale City attended this unique competition as a special guest. Louisa Niemand, Mrs Africa 2016 finalist, Mubeen Bassa, chairperson of the International Federation of Body Building (IFBB), and Asa Bedwala, world title bodybuilder, also attended this prestigious competition.

Tebogo Mmeko – better known as Terminator – was named the ultimate muscle beast of the West Rand after his ripped body landed him in first place in the Mr Bodybuilder category.

Bulelwa Tom, a resident of Tshepisong was crowned Miss Physique at the competition as her curvy, yet fit body stood out above all the other female competitors.

“We want to express our sincere gratitude to Mogale City, President Hyper, Karite, Bethany House, Bosasa and K Printing SA for sponsoring the event,” the organisers said.
