Cyclist completing two decades of 947 race
One R'fontein cyclist will be riding his 20th 947 Cycle Challenge.
One of Randfontein’s very own is aiming to complete his 20th Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge this year.
Nico Smit is a 45-year-old cyclist and long-time member of the Randmark Run, Walk, Cycle Club. He has been at the club so long that he refers to himself as ‘club furniture’.
This year is Nico’s 29th 947 Cycle Challenge – a gruelling 94km race across Johannesburg that takes place annually. This year the race will be held on Sunday, 20 November.
