Rugby players awarded for blood, sweat and tears

R'fontein Rugby Club has its sights set on the Gold Cup.

The Randfontein Rugby Club (RRC) treated their members, players and supporters to a glitzy end of year function cum annual general meeting (AGM).

The two events were held at the club in Greenhills on Friday, 21 October.

On the agenda was the way forward for the coming rugby season as well as the celebration of the season that just ended in which Teine, the club’s first team, won the Pirates Grand Challenge.

Winning the title was just the cherry on top of a successful season as the club managed to beat Roodepoort Rugby Club (Poorte) after 11 years. Dana van Vuuren, club chairman, has high hopes for the coming season and said at the event that next year they want to play in the prestigious Gold Cup.

The awards ceremony kicked off with members receiving their honorary club colours.
