Gauteng North claims Open Mixed Pair title

The Perfect Delivery Gauteng Open Mixed Pair 2016 bowling tournament was held at Randfontein Bowling Club from Friday, 23 to Sunday, 25 September.

The Friday saw various districts from all over Gauteng competing against one another in pairs in hopes of participating in the ‘knock-outs’ the following day.

Districts involved included the Johannesburg Bowling Association (JBA), the Sables Bowling Association, Gauteng North and Ekurhuleni. The Sables Bowling Association includes the Rustenburg, Randfontein, Noordheuwel, Krugersdorp, Ruimsig, Discovery, Honeydew, Florida North, Leases and Maraisburg bowling clubs.

Two Protea bowlers, namely Susan Nel and Nici Neal, played for Sables at the tournament.

“It is a very strategic sport that requires a lot of thinking. Therefore we really want to encourage more young people to engage in this sport,” Susan said.

On Sunday, 25 September the winners of the competition were announced.

In the end, the team consisting of Jonty Rhodes and Annelise Metaxas from Gauteng North won the tournament.
