Kickboxing siblings are stars in the making

The Barnard siblings will represent the country in October.

Jannie Barnard, a Mile High Kickboxing and Shidokan Club light-contact kickboxer and pupil at Hoërskool Jan Viljoen (Jannas) will represent South Africa in an upcoming competition.

Jannie has received his Martial Arts in South Africa (MASA) colours, which enables him to represent the country in the World Martial Arts Games that will take place from 14 to 16 October this year.

His sister Jo-Ann, who is a member of the same club, also received her colours and will be representing the country alongside her older brother.

Earlier this year, the siblings participated in the South African Kickboxing Championships. They both took bronze in the points category and silver in the light-contact category.

A month later, the siblings represented Randfontein at the Arnold Classic, a worldwide sports festival. In the Arnold Classic, Jannie took home silver, while Jo-Ann cam home with the bronze in the light-contact category.

The siblings are coached by Shian Henk Pelser, former kickboxing superstar and owner of the Mile High Kickboxing and Shidokan Club.
