Knockout and gold for R’fontein kickboxer

10 months of eating, sleeping, and drinking training pays off.

After 10 months of eating, sleeping and drinking training, Mile High Kickboxing and Shidokan Club took the top spot at the Last Fighter Standing Competition.

Quinton Rossouw, Piet Herman and Ruan Erasmus fought in the heavyweight class. Henry Madini fought as a lightweight along with Andries Swanepoel and Karl Heinz.

Ruan Erasmus fell ill before the competition and withdrew. The other kickboxers held their own at the competition, winning their first fights and some even making it to the semi-finals and elimination rounds but sooner or later all but one fell out of the competition.

Rossouw made it to the final but was knocked down by his opponent but nothing could stop him. He beat the referee’s count and came back nearly a full 10 seconds later only to knock out his opponent.

He is now through to the next stage in October to compete for the grand prize and title. The winners of the four qualifying city events will be battling it out against each other in their respective weight classes on 15 October where a winner in each class will be crowned the South African Champion.

Rossouw will also be competing in another big competition later this month. Should Rossouw manage a gold in the upcoming competition, he will qualify to go to a tournament in Japan.

Shian Henk Pelser said they could not have been as successful as they are without their sponsorship from Pretorius Steelworks but are eagerly looking for other sponsorships within Randfontein to go even further than they have recently.
