Stand up for the chess and mathematics champions

We congratulate them on their achievements that came up roses – as they admit to "the competition being tough".

Four pupils from Laerskool Gerrit Maritz Primary deserve a big round of applause.

Cohen Moses and Seth Beal are the school’s chess champions after they took part in the D2 Gauteng School Games held at Hoërskool Waterkloof in Pretoria on 14 May. There were five schools that participated. Each played five games.

Xander Nel and Brandon-Lee Kuik both took first place in their sections (Mental Maths and Olimpiad) at the Mathematics Expo at Silverfields Primary School in Krugersdorp, held on 19 May. With approximately 380 participants (60 schools) aiming for victory, these two did not hold back.

The school congratulates all four pupils on their achievements.
