Perfect start to the season for hockey club

Four wins out of four games for Randfontein Hockey Club.

The Randfontein Hockey Club (RHC) started the hockey season with a bang and are already at the top of their log.

The RHC men’s A team currently has 12 points on the log – three points ahead of Home of Hockey (HoH). Third on the log is Old Vaal Men with three points.

It’s still early in the season but a good start hopefully means a good finish for the Randfontein lads. For the past two years they’ve finished the season at the top of their league, and clearly they’re going for the gold once again.

Since the start of the season in April, RHC has played four games, and won all of them, while HoH has won three and lost one.

RHC’s first match was against the team that is hot on their heels on the log – HoH. RHC managed to crush HoH, with a score of 4–1. In their second match, they scored 7–0 against Cambrians. That score suggests that RHC didn’t just play against Cambrians – they gave their opponents a lesson in how to play the game.

RHC’s next outing was against Old Vaal Men, where they won narrowly, scoring 1–0. Their most recent match took place on Sunday 8 May, when they trounced Mondeor 5–0, giving the boys from the South a good hockey lesson.

RHC will be playing against HoH again on Sunday 29 May, in an away match. Thereafter they will be taking Cambrians on again, on Sunday 5 June – this time at home. It’s to be hoped that Cambrians have learned something from their previous whitewash defeat.
