Morgenrood rules the race course

The seasoned racer starts his racing season on a high note.

Ben Morgenrood, Randfontein’s racing champion has started off the season on a high note.

The seasoned racer started off the season by taking first place in the second race of the Big Boss GTA V8 Super Saloons (SS) category.

He then participated in the Inland Championship at Zwartkops Raceway, where Mackie Adlem, fellow Randfonteiner beat him to the gold. Ben took silver. In a previous article published by the Herald, Ben referred to Mackie as being a good competitor.

The second Inland Championship race took place at Phakisa Freeway, Welkom where he reclaimed the title of racing champion when he took first place with a time of 38,6 seconds, travelling at a speed of 154,81km/h in his Ford Mustang.

Ben’s next race is on Thursday 5 May at the Midvaal Raceway near Meyerton. Ben has won 13 National Championship titles since he started racing competitively in 1967 and his Midvaal race looks promising. Last year he came second overall in the SS category and took second place in GTA.

Ben has always been sponsored by Indy Oil, but has moved away from the brand and is now sponsored by Ford and Mazda, which is part of the Ben Morgenrood Group.
