R’fontein United wins title in Kempton

Randfontein United 2-0 Alberton Football Club.

Randfontein United beat Alberton Football Club 2-0 in the final down in Kempton Park to be crowned champions in the veterans 4th Division Cup of the Country League Football Association (CLFA).

Neil Campball scored both goals for United. The match was held at Barnard Stadium.

Antonio de Freitas, Randfontein Football Club chairperson (consisting of two teams) and Randfontein United captain said it was a tough match playing away from home.

Scoring the second goal was the highlight of the match.

“Our performance in the second half always improves.”

Antonio added the team worked together perfectly and that their comradery formed a vital part in bringing home the sought after cup to Randfontein.

The team will be starting the winter’s league soon and preparations already have started. United aims to become the league winners this year as they finished second in 2015.

“The team would like to thank Ben Morgenrood – our main sponsor – for their ongoing support as well as Blue Bottle Liquors who recently became the latest sponsor.”

Randfontein City, the other team from the club finished third in the veterans 4th division cup of the CLFA.
