Athlete poised for Trail Run debut
'My goal will be to enjoy every step as much as possible'.
SA trail running star Megan Mackenzie is counting down the days to her very first FNB Platinum Trail Run experience at the ATKV Buffelspoort in the North West Province next month (May).
Taking place on Sunday, 24 May 2015 trail running enthusiasts can choose between three distances: a fun filled 8km, a slightly more challenging 12km and the action-packed 24km event. Taking place the day before, 23 May, is the FNB Magalies Monster MTB Classic. Entries are still open for both events. Special entry rates will apply to individuals taking part in both the Mountain Bike and Trail Run event.
“I had to withdraw in 2014 due to injury,” Mackenzie said.
“I did however attend the event to support all the other runners. It looked like fun, so I am glad that I can participate this year. My goal will be to enjoy every step as much as possible, encourage others to give it their all, and of course a win would be great”.
“I’d recommend this event to all athletes as it gives a glimpse into areas around Johannesburg that are trail running friendly,” Mackenzie continued.
“The routes are do-able, but challenging. This is exactly what we want from a race. From what I saw last year there is a fantastic vibe, while trail runners get to do what they love doing most”.
Defined by its exclusivity and terrain, trail runners can look forward to experiencing some of the best trails on offer in the area. Each entrant will receive an awesome goody bag that will include an event t-shirt, while medals will be awarded to all finishers.
With the action-packed FNB Magalies Monster Mountain Bike (MTB) Classic presented by ISUZU taking place the day before, why not make it a fun filled weekend away with family and friends.
