Rain spoils cricket fun

Rain stops match with just 72 runs required.

Randfontein Cricket Club’s Sunday 1 team and the University of Johannesburg (UJ) shared the spoils in a recent meeting.

On the day the locals won the toss and opted to bowl first.

UJ’s opening batsman smashed a few sixes and had Randfontein in a panic. It wasn’t long before Randfontein began to bowl out one batsman after the other.

UJ eventually was bowled out for 285.

In their innings Randfontein lost two early wickets but despite the setback they kept on fighting and reached the total of 214 for seven when rain stopped play.

The match eventually was called off and ended in a draw.
