RAC looking forward to 2015

The club experienced one of its busiest years.

Randmark Athletics Club (RAC) urges athletes in the community to join them in 2015.

RAC is a hub where talented cyclists and runners come together to do what they do best – getting fit. According to Karin Bezuidenhout, spokesperson for RAC the club experienced one of its busiest years.

On the running side the club started the season with a bang by competing in this year’s Comrades Marathon. Next was the Two Oceans Marathon, which Karin described as a difficult but immensely beautiful marathon. Runners then participated in the RAC Tough One – one of the toughest races in Gauteng – which is a 32km race.

In the cycling department cyclists participated in the well-known 94.7 Cycle Challenge. In addition to this, athletes also participated in the Coronation Double Century in Swellendam – a 204km team cycle event. This event is seen as a tradition in the club as they have been participating the last four years.

With regards to the 94.7 Cycle Challenge and the RAC Tough One, a few athletes participated in both, which was not an easy feat for athletes to participate in back to back races. For those who managed to push through, a special medal was in order.

Karin invites new cyclists to join the club and start training early in the new year with well organised training groups on Saturdays and Sundays.

She proudly stated, “Randmark is a proud group of hard training runners and cyclists.”
