Calling all anglers to reel in the biggest carp they can

First annual Big Carp Challenge coming soon

The fishing community of Randfontein and Westonaria are calling anglers to put on their fishing hats and boots for the first Annual Big Carp Challenge.

The competition is being organised by Louis Nel, co-owner of Hook, Line, and Sinker Fishing Tackle as well as Outdoor Adventure. It has been organised to be held at the Donaldson Dam from Friday 21 to Sunday 23 November.

This event is being held in conjunction with Pick ‘n Pay Westonaria that has been said, by Nel, to be very keen on the opportunity to get involved with angling.

Entries will be at R500 per angler, however, only 40 anglers will be allowed to participate.

According to Nel, there are still a few places available. Registration will only take place at the Hook, Line, and Sinker fishing shop in Westonaria.

The afore mentioned price will include food for the weekend. This consists of boerewors rolls on the Friday, and a spitbraai on the Saturday. Gate fees will also be included in the price.

On Sunday, 23 November and last day of the competition, a prize giving will be held. The winner will be determined by the size of the fish caught. First place will receive a mid-week vacation on the coast. Second and third place will receive gift vouchers.

This event marks the first of an annual competition and Louis Nel believes that the event will grow over years to come.
