Oval racing a must for Adlem

With a passion for speed, Johnny Adlem thrives on adrenaline in his 360 cubic inch V8 sprint car.

Since 2001 Johnny Adlem, brother of Sports and GT race car driver Mackie Adlem, has been tearing up the asphalt of Mahem Oval Track in his 360 cubic inch V8 sprint car.

Adlem explains that in his debut year as a sprint car driver he won the Speed Spot Club Championships. In the following year, Adlem again cracked the top three with an overall second place in this championship.

“Since I was a young boy I had a passion for race cars, speed and engines. I share this passion with my dad, brother and even my child who is also a cart racer,” says Adlem.

He further explains that being behind the wheel of his powerful 750 horsepower beast is certainly a dream come true.

“After placing second in the 2002 Club Championships I left the circuit but recently returned to the Mahem Oval Raceway just outside Pretoria to compete in their club championships,” says Adlem.

He currently is in fourth place on the overall race log.

Adlem explains that although they do not reach immense speeds on this track, the adrenaline they experience is spectacular as they speed across this 400 metre track at an average speed of between 160 and 180km/h.

“I love racing. I only can thank my dad and all my sponsors for giving me the opportunity to get out on the track and enjoy yet another race day,” Adlem concludes.
