Chad Le Clos claimed his seventh medal of the Commonwealth Games when he finished third for a podium finish in both the men’s 200m Individual and Relay Medley.
The South African champion edged out Australian Thomas Fraser-Holmes by one-hundredth of a second in Glasgow on Tuesday night to better the record set of six medals by Australian legend Ian Thorpe.
Fellow South African, Sebastian Rousseau, put up a good showing early on but faded out by the halfway mark after having seen he and his compatriot sit at 1-2.
Le Clos’ medal target for the Commonwealth games was set at seven pieces of silverware, and he claimed his seventh and final token when he completed the 4 x 100m Medley Relay Final.
