Scheepers climbs singles rankings

South African shoots up to number 71 in world rankings.

South Africa’s number one female tennis player Chanelle Scheepers shot up to 71st when the International Tennis Federation announced the updated world rankings on Monday.

Scheepers, who lost 3-6 6-7 (3-7) to Mona Barthel in the Swedish Open final over the weekend, rose 20 places from a previous ranking of 91.
