Power boat racer to compete in Norway

Juandré, 15, set to compete in the World Power Boat Championships.

Local power boat racer Juandré Engelbrecht is set to compete in the World Power Boat Championships that will take place in Norway.

According to the 15-year-old power boat enthusiast, he has been competing in various competitions for the past eight years and already received South African colours in his beloved sport.

He further explains that he is currently competing in the Formula 30 series with his 30-horsepower Cat boat.

“This boat reaches up to 80 kilometres per hour on the water. On land this is a top speed of around 128 kilometres per hour,” says Juandré.

According to Juandré he placed second in the overall log for the 2013 season. This success led to the Norway Power Boat Federation inviting him to compete internationally. The World Power Boat Championships will take place from 28 July to 5 August in Hamar, Norway.

“Only four racers from South Africa have been invited to compete in this prestigious event. I am honoured to be part of this event and will do my best to excel during this championship,” Juandré continues.

By competing in this event, Juandré is one step closer to fulfilling his life-long dream of becoming the youngest Formula 1 power boat racer in South Africa.

Jaundré thanks the Lord for his great talent as well as for keeping him safe during every event.

“I also thank my parents for their support and a great vote of thanks goes to my sponsor, Francois Griessel, from National Letting. Without your sponsorship, I would not have been able to compete at this level,” Juandré concludes.

If anyone wants to become part of the success behind Juandré, feel free to contact Susanna Engelbrecht on 071 401 6760.
