White wary of inconsistent Highlanders

"You can never take anything for granted.": 'Great White'

Cell C Sharks director of rugby, Jake White, has urged his players not to underestimate the Highlanders when they face them at home in the play-off of the Super Rugby.

The Highlanders come to Durban for Saturday’s first match in the Finals Series on a low as they were beaten by the Waratahs and the Crusaders by some dramatic margin.s

White feels, that despite the Highlanders’ poor run of form, they still have it in them to sucker punch his own men.

“What this tournament shows you is that you can never take anything for granted, and you have to be careful which Highlanders game you pinpoint when you decide how good or bad they are,” said White.

“The Highlander lost their last two games, but they defeated us in Durban when they were last here for a game we were expected to win. That is the way this competition work, those are the margins.

“We lost to the Cheetahs, but they conceded 60 points this past weekend to the Lions, who ended fourth last on the log.

“So we aren’t going to be taking them lightly, we aren’t going to underestimate them. If we did that it would mean that we might be staying in Durban on Sunday and not flying overseas for the next round. We know that.

“Every game from here on is like a final for us as if we lose we are out.”
