Amajimbos victorious against Lesotho

South African Under-17 National Team wins third match on the road.

The South African Under-17 National Team claimed a 2-0 victory over Lesotho in what was a tightly contested friendly match played at the Mafeteng Stadium.

The fixture was the Amajimbos’ third match on the road after they managed to record two wins over Botswana last week.

This occasion, however, was more of a testing battle as they had to come up against tough weather conditions all while facing a determined Lesotho.

Captain Nelson Maluleka broke the deadlock on 18 minutes to score his third strike in three outings for his national team, while the hosts proved a more formidable opponent.

Lesotho’s main vice was their poor finishing and it saw South Africa capatilise in the closing stages of the game.

Head coach Ntseki made some substitutions and one of them was Vuyo Mantjie, scored in the 38th to end the match in favour of Amajimbos.

Their next match will be played on Sunday 13 July at the Setsoto Stadium in Maseru, with kickoff at 3pm.
