Cardoso to miss pre-season

Previous injury haunts Free State Stars defender.

Free State Stars defender Daniel Cardoso is set to miss pre-season following a recurrence of a previous injury.

The club confirmed via its official website that Cardoso, who missed the better part of last season due to a stress fracture, has suffered another setback.

“I will be going to an X-ray next week and that will determine how long I will be out. I am still experiencing some pain, especially in the cold weather conditions. I hope it is nothing serious and I will be back sooner than I expected,” the 25-year-old told the club’s official website.

Cardoso also shared his thoughts on the club’s new head coach, Tom Saintfiet.

“His CV speaks volume and he is highly qualified and most importantly he has worked in Africa. He has a good background about our Absa Premiership. I think he is the man to take the team to greater heights,” Cardoso added.
