Mile High fighters compete for top spots

Fighters from Mile High Kickboxing and Shidokan, Randfontein, show their steel during their first National Mile High Tournament.

The first National Mile High and Shidokan tournament for the year took place on 5 April and some of the Mile High clubs came together in Elisras to battle for the top spots in five different fighting styles.

Randfontein’s Mile High Club, attended this event with one goal in mind: winning.

The first Randfontein fighter to enter the octagon was Erenst da Silva in his first ever K-1 fight in the junior division.

He did extremely well but was knocked out in the third round of an amazing K-1 display.

André Putter then took to the cage in a Mixed Martial Arts fight and he beat his opponent in the second round after delivering a devastating gelatine choke.

The third Randfontein fighter to show his skill was Rhuan ‘The Bad Boy’ Erasmus.

His fight went the distance but Rhuan still managed to take the win on the score cards.

Then JP ‘The Swift’ Bezuidenhout went into the cage for a Mixed Martial Arts, Super Am Fight.

JP, who is sponsored by Henk van Wyk Vervoer, had to face a very experienced Durban fighter, Bill ‘The Giant’ Thusi.

In the end JP was the victor and won by decision.

Gert ‘Hell Hound’ Jacobs, sponsored by Pretorius Steel works, was next on the bill and with great tactic, he ensured his third win for the year.

Herman Oberholzer then entered the cage to experience his first ever defeat at the hands of Shilo Cumbonie.

Shilo knocked Herman out in the second round.

Jaco ‘The Boertjie’ Louw was the next Randfontein fighter in line.

He also enjoyed his third win for the year when he knocked his opponent out in the opening round.

According to the owner of Mile High Kickboxing and Shidokan – Randfontein branch, Henk Pelser, his fighters did very well over all and will surely train even harder for the events to come during the course of the year.

“Randfontein’s Mile High Club will host their first home tournament for the year on 7 June.

During this event spectators can look forward to two South African title matches on the bill among other great fights,” says Henk.
