West Rand Hip-Hop Champs on local stage

Dancers from all over the west rand can now enter for the 2014 West Rand Hip-Hop Championships that will take place at the Randfontein Golf Club.

Dancers from all over the west rand can now enter for the 2014 West Rand Hip-Hop Championships that will take place at the Randfontein Golf Club and will be hosted by the Mario Gomes Hip-Hop Dance Academy (MGHHDA).

According to the owner of MGHHDA, Mario Gomes, his studio recently participated in the Battle of the Giants World Championships and did extremely well.

“After our great success during Battle of the Giants, all of my dancers are ready to take Randfontein by Storm during the West Rand Hip-Hop Championships,” says Mario.

He adds that any self taught dancer as well as any dancer from any dance school on the West Rand is welcome to enter the championship. Entrance for dancers to take part in the event is per dancer and it does not matter in how many sections you compete.

Sections include Hip-Hop Solos, Hip-Hop Duos, Crews, Contemporary Solos, Tiny Tot Displays, Breakdancing as well as the infamous Hip-Hop Champ of Champions battle.

“Although the event takes place on 30 May, the closing date for entries are 2 May, therefore dancers must enter as soon as possible,” says Mario.

The doors will open at 8.30 am on the day of the event and the championships will kick off at 10am sharp.

“Spectators are also welcome to attend the event. Entrance for spectators are R60 per person and all seats are unreserved,” says Mario.
