Randmark honours achievers

The athletes from Randmark Running and Cycling Club recently hosted their annual general meeting and used this opportunity to honour those athletes that did great during the past year.

The athletes from Randmark Running and Cycling Club recently hosted their annual general meeting and used this opportunity to honour those athletes who excelled during the past year.

Gavin da Silva was crowned as the Men’s Club champion as he was the top senior men’s road runner. He also received an award for competing on provincial level.

Karin Bezuidenhout took various awards during the event and was nominated as the most dedicated female club member. She also participated in the most nominated races in the road and mountain bike categories.

Karin also made history when she became the first club member to take the top spot in three different championships.

The next member of this dedicated club to receive recognition was Lizeth Rowan who took part in the 2013 Comrades Marathon and took a bronze medal during the prestigious ultra marathon.

She was crowned the best female ultra marathon runner as well as female club champion.

Jaco Lottering received an award as the top cyclist in the 20 to 39 year category and also was the men’s club champion in both road racing and mountain biking.

Finally, Wouter Holmes received honoury colours for management and took the award for top member of management for 2013.

With great success during 2013, 2014 started with a bang for the club as the number of members grew significantly and those who joined proved they were out there to put Randmark on the map with running and cycling.

The Randmark champions put in an effort not only to get to the different events but also to excel in every event, showing that it is about what you put in and that all the long hours of training pays off in the end.
