Bass anglers boast with successful month

Kiss my Bass anglers enjoyed their time at Trout Hunters but with no fishing, the competitors had to settle for a braai next to the dam instead.

Knowing that fishing was going to be tough the Kiss My Bass team headed to Trout Hunters in Tarlton on 21 July for their monthly competition.

The seven anglers who competed in this event tried every lure in their tackle boxes but to no avail as there were no bass willing to join the party.

At the end of the day everyone packed away their rods and enjoyed the sunshine and a braai.

Spring is showing early signs so anticipation is high for next month’s competition which will take place on 18 August at Swartruggens Dam.

The club’s boat anglers went to Hartebeespoort Dam during July and had a slightly better time.

Team Rietbos took top honours with a single fish of 3.175 kilograms.

Team Hook and Fluke ended second also with a single fish and Team Clan Doyle ended third with the only other fish of the day.

With the season changing rapidly now, next month’s competition at Renosterkop is hopefully going to be a lot better.

Fish should be coming out of the deeper waters and actively feeding ahead of the spawn.

Anyone interested in joining either the bank or the boat competitions can contact Jimmy Doyle on 071 331 6501 for more information.

The next club meeting will be held at Clan Doyle Venue on 6 August.
