Mile High shows their steel in Welkom

Mile High Kickboxing fighters take the fight to Welkom.

Fighters from Mile High Kickboxing gym recently participated in a Rage event in the Free State and did extremely well during this competitive tournament.

According to owner and head coach at Mile High, Henk Pelser, his fighters had a great day at the office.

Gulio van Deventer’s opponent did not pitch for the event so he did not get the chance to fight.

Next on the schedule was Armand Coortsen and Mohammed Dajee who took part in a K-1 fight and Mohamed won on the score cards.

Iny Brtiz from Randfontein and Karen van Jaarsveld from Witpoort had a sport combat fight which was a draw after three action packed rounds.

Kalie-Heinz Thierof from Welkom and André Els from Carletonville had a mixed martial arts fight and André won in the second round.

Cloete Delport from Welkom and Daniel de Jager also met for a mixed martial arts fight and Daniel won in the second round after performing a great triangle choke.

Gerhard Combrink from Randfontein and Juan Cluad from Welkom had a sport combat fight and Gerhard won on points.

Eugene Pretorius from Welkom and Gert Jacobs fought in a mix martial arts fight and Gert won in one minute and 42 seconds by triangle choke.

Armand Koortsen from Welkom and Eugene van der Merwe had a super amateur fight and Eugene won in the opening 36 seconds by means of knock-out.

Next to enter the cage was Enrico van Aswegen from Randfontein and Johan Wagenaar.

They had an epic battle in their K-1 fight but in the end Enrico won on points.

Gerhard Combrink had to fight against Jaques Mynhardt and the Jaques won on points over three rounds.

The second last fight of the day was between Cloete Delport and Gert Jacobs who took part in a Shidokan light fight and Gert won on points.

Eugene Pretorius and Daniel de Jager was the last fighters to enter the ring in their Shidokan light fight and Eugene also took the win on the score cards.

“Halfway through the year and my students have competed in East Londen, Durban, Nelspruit, Welkom, Bloemfontein and Randfontein,” says Henk.

“During all these tournaments they did very well and I believe that the next six months of 2013 will be just as exciting.”
