Covid-19 is real

Zintle Thubeni, Herald intern journalist writes:

The escalation of positive cases of Covid-19 is scary. One cannot even leave the house to buy bread or walk in the mall for fear that you might get infected.

Reality is we have to live with it, we have to accept the new way of living. I mean you cannot leave the house without your face mask even if you are going to see your neighbours. Every day I wonder if I am positive.

Every day I go out and try by all means to protect myself, not just because of the regulations but for my own health, my own family and friends. Most people believe they are safe when they are with their close friends, but the reality is, anyone can infect you, even your parents or partner, because they leave the house and meet different people.

Just last week I lost one of my relatives because of this virus. She was in the Eastern Cape. That’s when I realised that the virus really kills. It could have been me, it could have been you; you never know who has it, and who doesn’t, but should we blame those that are Covid-19 positive or neglect them?

No.We should support them and understand that they are victims of the virus and they did not ask for it. Let’s pray for everyone and all those infected.
