We really need to clean up our act …

Words like 'previously disadvantaged' and 'minority' get thrown around a lot.

Affirmative action, employment equity.

Seems like the people didn’t read the whole thing through, or even think about the long-term consequences it will have on all of us. These specific Acts have grave repercussions for the entire nation.

Affirmative action and this dreaded Employment Equity Act are, in my opinion, partially responsible for the mess we as a country are in today. Just look around. If it was implemented correctly, maybe we would have been better off.

Words like ‘previously disadvantaged’ and ‘minority’ get thrown around a lot.

We have to determine who falls in the different categories and deal with it accordingly. Some who are considered as ‘previously disadvantaged’ are living like kings and queens nowadays, while they are unproductive and in some cases incompetent, unreliable and oh so greedy, while the qualified are unemployed and so discouraged.

The needs of the state and the private sector, and prosperity should be taken in account … I think. They need to be profitable and rise to greater heights year on year, instead of doing damage control all year long, because of corruption and greediness. They’re unable to feed the nation and give back to the communities.

Only focusing on what the Act says and being hellbent on implementing it by any means necessary, leaves room for incompetence, maladministration, corruption, poor workmanship, favouritism, nepotism etc.

It’s evident in our everyday life. From the highest office in our country, straight down to the farms, rural areas and communities.

Who was previously disadvantaged, who fought for justice and equality, who participated in the fight for freedom, who faced apartheid head on and still have the scars to show, who are the minority, who are more than qualified to do the job, who are the correct candidates to fill the posts?

Some of the questions that need to be ask when considering a candidate, rather then just hiring because of what the Act says.

Going by the population percentage ratio will never work. Some of the Acts have been amended countless times without taking into account what really happens in the field. If and when they are unable to benefit from a certain Act,they just change it (in my opinion).

Unqualified individuals are placed in positions they are not supposed to be in. Because of that, production, service, sales and the quality of the institutions are hugely reduced.
