Enough is enough

We are raising a 'lost' generation, unless we wake up and smell the coffee.

They say patience is a virtue but enough is enough.

Our area is plagued by unemployment and social issues. There’s not much, or rather no development regarding sports and recreation.

My primary reason for writing this is that we have been waiting for our stadium in Toekomsrus to be completed for more than two and a half years.

Our children are playing soccer in the open veld next to the secondary school.

We formed an athletics club but cannot utilise the stadium to practise.

I went to the relevant offices at the traffic department to address the issues. All they say is that we just have to wait until they start with construction. It’s been more than three months since I went there the last time.

My concern is that our children are going astray in Toekomsrus. There are lots and lots of social cohesion games in the surrounding areas which our kids in Toekomsrus are not part of.

Our children are just roaming/ loitering in the streets, because we don’t offer them something else to do, except sending them to school.

To make matters worse, our swimming pool, the one that we waited for so long, can also not be used. Ask me why? I don’t know.

We are raising a ‘lost’ generation, unless we wake up and smell the coffee.

Thanks for also addressing the issue, councillor N Kiew.
