Corporal punishment: Church vs the state

'I would like to remind Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng that we grew up being beaten up by our parents and our neighbours for our wrongdoings.'

The state has concluded that henceforth, whosoever beats his or her child, can be convicted to a prison term.

According to Isaiah chapter 60 verse 1, the Church of God must arise, shine and occupy its rightful position in society, in the community, in the country – and ultimately in the world.

Anything that is not supported or backed up by the Word of God, or by the Holy Bible which is the constitution of Heaven and Earth, is bound to fail. As the Elder and Evangelist of Spirit of Christ Ministries, I would like to remind Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng that we grew up being beaten up by our parents and our neighbours for our wrongdoings.

Secondly, we grew up with corporal punishment at school for arriving late, for homework that was not done, classwork that was not done etc. The Scripture says we are the heads of our families, and “If God is on our side, who can be against us?” Our children will say, “If the state is on our side, who can beat us? Touch us and go to prison.”

As Elder of Spirit of Christ Ministries, I have the prophetic weapon to fight back, which is the Word of God.

1. Proverbs 13 verse 24: “Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them”.

2. Proverbs 15 verse 10: “Harsh discipline is for him who forsakes the way, and he who hates correction will die”.

3. Proverbs 19 verse 18: “Discipline your children, for in that there is hope; do not be a willing party to their death”.

4. Proverbs 23 verse 13: “Do not withhold discipline from a child, if you punish them with the rod, they will not die, punish them with the rod and save them from death”.

5. Proverbs 29 verse 15: “A rod and a reprimand impart wisdom, but a child left undisciplined disgraces its mother”.

6. Proverbs 29 verse 17: “Discipline your children, and they will give you peace, they will bring you the delights you desires”.

It is time for the Church of God to arise, shine and occupy its rightful position in society, to defend the doctrine and the gospel of Christ Jesus. If not, churches will be empty, and prisons will overflow with parents, with the Pauls, Silases and Peters etc.

Church of God, please wake up. Kerk van God, word asseblief wakker. Kereke ya Modimo tsoga tswetsive. Icawe ka Thixo Vuka.

Romans chapter 13: “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established by God”. But going to prison for disciplining your children is completely contrary to the Word of God in the Book of Proverbs.

We need pastors, reverends, apostles, bishops and popes who have the mentality and character of Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, Paul, Silas and Peter. These are the tried and tested saints who were brave enough to say NO to the kings, states and authorities. The problem is that the Church of today is busy enjoying ice cream and popcorn. The church of today does not have prophetic vision, hence society is perishing.
