Just to shed some light on the above incident that occurred that night on the N12 … my husband and I were on our way home from Klerksdorp just a couple of kilometres before the Carletonville turnoff (R501), driving behind the white double-cab bakkie [that was involved in the accident].
We heard one of the tyres on the bakkie burst, then the driver lost control of the vehicle, and it veered over onto the right-hand side of the road (into the oncoming traffic). That’s when the blue Corolla crashed into the left-hand side of the bakkie.
The Corolla then went off the road, and the bakkie also changed direction due to the impact.
We were the only two people on the scene, which happened right in front of us. We then requested assistance on the Namola App – an app that helps you get emergency assistance when you need it most – which then dispatched ambulance services and the police.
We can also positively confirm that the family in the Corolla were on their way back home to Bloemhof after attending a church service in Johannesburg.
