Alcohol destroys our nation
You can't be a friend of Jesus Christ and a friend of the bottle store.
The other day I was driving to town when I happened to see a group of young boys having fun at the park. They were drinking all sorts of intoxicating beverages. I decided to park my vehicle and went to them. I told them the dangers, the repercussions and the consequences of the consumption of intoxicating beverages.
As a parent, motivational speaker and the Elder of Spirit of Christ Ministries, my assignment and mandate on earth is to preach the gospel of repentance and to win souls for the Kingdom of God.
Let us see what God and the Scriptures say about the consumption of intoxicating beverages or alcohol:
1. Proverbs 4:17 – ‘They eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence’.
2. Proverbs 20:1 – ‘Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler, whoever is led astray is not wise’.
3. Proverbs 21:17 – ‘The one who loves pleasure will become poor, whoever loves wine and oil will never be rich’.
4. Proverbs 23:20-21 – ‘Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat, for drunkards and gluttons become poor and drowsiness clothes them in rags’.
5. Proverbs 23:29-32 – ‘Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaints? Who has needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes? Those who linger over wine, who go to sample bowls of mixed wine. Do not gaze at wine when it is red when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly! In the end it bites like a snake and poisons like a viper’.
6. Proverbs 31:4-7 – ‘It is not for kings to drink wine, not for rulers to crave beer, lest they think and forget what the law decrees, and deprive all oppressed of their rights. Give beer to those who are perishing, wine to those who are in anguish, let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no more’.
It must be noted that many marriages and relationships have been broken because of alcohol. Most of the road death accidents during festive seasons have alcohol as a contributing factor.
• Liquor hampers the speed of thinking and reasoning
• Liquor makes a person hostile and aggressive
• Liquor destroys the process of metabolism in the human body; that is why medical doctors always advise pregnant women to avoid cigarettes and alcohol.
My apostle, Dr AN Mabaso, is a medical doctor who never ends a church service without preaching holiness. He says you can’t be a friend of Jesus Christ and a friend of the bottle store.
That’s why Jesus Christ said, “Pick up your cross, deny yourself and follow me”.
