We would like to congratulate the Gauteng West Class of 2018, their educators, principals and school governing bodies with their results in the 2018 Matric exams.
Congratulations to the Gauteng West Director, Oupa Koapeng and his District team for the combined and comprehensive team effort, support and oversight under the overall political guidance of the Gauteng MEC for Education, MPL Panyaza Lesufi.
We would like to express our appreciation on the number of enrolled candidates for the current year and the improvements made by the progressed learners to improve the results.
We note the impressive increase of matriculants that qualified for bachelor studies at universities. This year 12 new subjects on civil technologies, sign language and technical mathematics have been added.
We further welcome the fact that according to the Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga the Gauteng Province has raised the bar in almost all applicable performance indicators – not excluding a notable improvement of sustenance in the Gauteng West District – in the overall improvement of the pass rate.
Let us remain resolute to make education excellence the centre of repositioning the West Rand Region beyond mining.
