Thank you volunteers – Cansa

We truly value our volunteers, many of whom have personally been affected by cancer, and assist staff throughout the country to educate local communities about awareness of the signs of cancer.

• Elize Joubert, Cansa CEO writes:

International Volunteers Day, celebrated annually on 5 December, was mandated by the United Nations General Assembly in 1985, to celebrate the power and potential of volunteerism.

The Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) would like to say a special thank you for the selfless commitment our volunteers have shown to those affected by cancer throughout the year.

As a non-profit organisation, Cansa relies heavily on its trained volunteers to help fight against cancer in their local communities.

We truly value our volunteers, many of whom have personally been affected by cancer, and assist staff throughout the country to educate local communities about awareness of the signs of cancer, the importance of regular cancer screening and living a balanced lifestyle to lower the risk of developing cancer.

Our volunteers also provide care and support to cancer patients and loved ones, or assist with administrative or fundraising tasks. We simply would not have enough hands to deliver our service to those affected by cancer without our remarkable, dedicated volunteers.

Those wishing to sign up as volunteers can contact their local Cansa Care Centre or sign up online.
